DR. CHOON KEY CHEKAR works at the ESRC Centre for the Economic and Social Aspects of Genomics (Cesagen) and became interested in public engagement while working on various research projects on human embryonic stem cell research. The focus of her research has been on the media coverage of stem cell research and the representation of the public in controversies around stem cell science. She had the pleasure of presenting some of this work with Dr. Jamie Lewis at the Cardiff Philosophy Cafe. Since this event, she has been involved in various activities that enable her to think about innovative ways of facilitating dialogues between people with different views, experiences and expertise.

She has been enjoying documenting the sciSCREEN events with her digital camera and also enjoying the special bonus of taking part in organising sciSCREEN: meeting amazing new people!
